Reflective Journal Week 10

Week 10 (6/02/2023- 8/02/2023)

Successfully completed last week of my teaching practice. These 45 days are filled with new experiences and lessons in life. These days have taught me to learn from mistakes and improve with hard work. As a teacher trainee, these days helped me to understand my limitations in the process of teaching. Each and every experience I faced during my school internship helped in developing my personality and in increasing my confidence level.
The first day, that is 6/02/2023, started with morning assembly conducted by 8B students. In the assembly we distributed prizes to the winners of quiz competition that was conducted by on the last Friday. First day I got two periods in 8A. In the first class I taught the lesson which is based on my innovative idea. My innovative idea was teaching the concept "same area" through a comic strip. Comic strips are something that the children love to read. As a kid, I was always loved to read kalikudukka and balarama. Inspiring from that I invented such an idea of integrating comic strip to teaching. As I expected, students liked it very much and throughout the class all are very active and immersed into the story interestingly. Again, I went to 8A for second time and taught them some extra problems related to the chapter. Students are all happy that the chapter ended and excited to learn the new chapter. Exam duty was also assigned to me after my class during the free hours.
In the second day, that is 7/02/2023, started with morning prayer. The pre- model exam was going on so, the exam duty was assigned to me. This day I got 2 periods in 8A. In the first class I started the new chapter, which is "Negative Numbers". Since we are leaving the school tomorrow, they keep asking about it and telling me to "don't go". In the second class, I took the remedial class to the students separately after preparing the diagnostic chart. I think the class was effective because I was able to focus more on the difficulty of students in understanding the concept as there were minimal students compared to the regular class. Also, in the questioning session they answered correctly. Later, we discussed about tomorrow's assembly, as we also joining to sing the prayer with social science optional and the assembly was organizing by them.
In the third day, that is 08/02/2023, the day started with morning assembly conducted by Social Science optional B.Ed. trainees. Today was the last day of our school internship. The day started with the morning prayer which was sung by us. Later HM mentioned about us in the assembly that we are leaving today and thanked us for all our hard works and services.  The day was very hectic. We never rest a bit.  As usual, we went for the exam duty. The students are all sad that we are leaving.  Today's lunch was sponsored by HM. So, we went to smart classroom and there we had a small farewell party. HM and other teachers gave farewell speech to us and wished us all the best for our future. After that we distributed sweets to all classes and teachers as a token of love. Took photos with students, teachers and HM to keep all these memories. In the last period, I went to 8A, taught them balance remedial classes and had a friendly chat with my students. Then I thanked them for the love they showered on us in these 45 days. Lastly, we met HM Ms. Anitha C. S and thanked er for the love, care and cooperation that she offered to us in the days of school internship. HM wished us a good teaching profession and advised us to uphold good values in life. For the last time when we are leaving the college, students all waved us and said bye....
